Subsidized Lean for Food Processors Program

The B.C. Ministry of Agriculture is subsidizing a Lean for Food Processors Program which provides a five (5) day Lean Training Program hosted at your company site.

Lean training component

The Lean for Food Processors training consists of a three-day Lean training component followed by a two-day hands-on improvement session (Kaizen) in a targeted or problem area of your organization. The outcomes include improved labour productivity, production capacity, R&D process, and improvement profit margins. This program results in Lean certification.

Our expertise in food and beverage processes includes but is not limited to: beverage, pet food, packages tea/coffee, small and large scale bakery, meal prep kits, dairy/yogurt, chocolate & candy, vitamins/health supplements, and vegetable/fruit processing. Targeted areas have included production, warehouse, shipping, inventory, back-office, sales, etc.

Training Overview

The Lean for Food Processors training will provide an introduction to various Lean tools and techniques as well as their application. It is designed as three days of training with a two day on-site improvement session for a total of five days of involvement.

The topics covered in the training include:

  • Introduction to Lean
  • Lean Thinking and Principles
  • The 8 Wastes (DOWNTIME)
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Kaizen
  • 5S
  • Lean Implementation Road Map
  • Change Management
  • Lean Project Management (PMO)

The fee which is $8,500 is subsidized by the Ministry so that the cost to participating organizations is only $1,500.

Improvement Topics

The program provides the opportunity to focus on a few of the tools with your staff using a hands-on approach during the two-day session.

  • Quick Change Overs
  • Improving Process Flow
  • Visual Management
  • Kaizen
  • Practical Problem Solving (PPS)/Root Cause Analysis
  • Lean Layout and 5S
